Connecting the dots …

Raj Thackerey upto his antics again!!

The Supreme Court says “India is not an association or confederation of states, it is a union of states and there is only one nationality that is Indian. Hence every Indian has right to go anywhere in India, to settle anywhere, and work and do business of his choice in any part of India peacefully,”

But Raj Thackerey has other motives to take care of. In an effort to realize his dream of becoming CM of Maharashtra, Raj Thackerey has resorted to the politics of hate, sowing seeds of hatred in the hearts of Maharashtrians against their North Indian counterparts. Well, you really cant expect someone who had a fallout with his brother and uncle the moment he realized they were not helping his cause to keep a state united, can you?? And then he has a bunch of cowards as followers who target north Indian hawkers and stall owners as per his whims and fancies. Ever taken a moment or two to think of their children starving back home. Nah!!! you need a conscience for that!

Indian politics is like that. It’s our fate. People can go to any extent (addressing unnecessary issues) to hit the lime light…

The bottom line being, there are many men with loose morals who want a part of some action they are not even remotely connected with. That is why polity of this kind gets audience. The wastrel in Tumkur wants a piece of Bangalore (people are making noises to have 30% kannadiga reservations in IT-BT sectors in karnataka), the one in vandavasi thinks the guys in tidel park are the reason why his life sucks and so on.. No wonder the marathi manoos feels the same way. So no point blaming Raj. He is just being smart and playing to the gallery.

And you have to change the template to give more real estate to the posts. Right now it is like kovanam…. very thin and long…

  balaaji wrote @

I hope the kovanam is addressed and now it shuld look like JOCKEY !!!

  blessedbymorpheus wrote @

Yup! Mr. Thackerey is making hay while the sun shines. What a comparison tharuthalai!!!!
Couldn’t you have found something better than kovanam ha ha!!

  tharuthalai wrote @

Okay. here is a better comparison – a neatly folded angavasthram.

I give up!!!!

Why is there a secularism tag to this post?

Raj Thackery is upto his silly tactics every now and then. His targeting the North Indian hawkers and stall onwers who sweat out and earn money is because they are easy targets and also it shows what future he wants for his fellow Maharastrians. He wants to see Marati mannos as just hawkers and taxi drivers? Is this wat he expects his people to become.

Wat a mentor! Wow!!!

His unethical behaviour will go on only till he loses out on the votes that he is banking on. :)

Go on blabbering Mr. Thackrey!!! Atleat you raise the TRP’s of news channels and circulation of newspapers. Somebody benefiting at least

Perfectly right Nimm !!!
Despite me being Maharashtrian I do not favor Raj’s rosh towards North Indian.
Keeping aside politics and Indianess, I sincerely feel that there should be restrictions on the vast fleet marching towards Mumbai from all directions and not just from North.
This I am saying from my everyday experience of traveling in rushed trains where there are max non-mumbaikars, every moring people potting roadside and on the railway tracks.
Growing Quota systems in all schools and colleges for everybody accept Maharastrians.

I completely agree on the fact that India is not an association or confederation of states, it is a union of states and there is only one nationality that is Indian. Hence every Indian has right to go anywhere in India, to settle anywhere in India. If this is the case then why there are societies all over Mumbai with residents consisting only of Gujratis. There is an unwritten and undeclared rule that residents should only be Gujratis.

I am not with Raj Thackeray reminding you but my question is why do non-maharashtrians come here in Maharashtra and with crooked faces address maharashtrians as ”…these all Ghatees”.

  blessedbymorpheus wrote @

Anjali, glad you can see Mr. Raj for what he is. And I can see yor point to an extent but you need to realise that the non marathi manoos contributes to the Mumbai economy as much as the Marathi manoos and so its only fair that they use the train as well. Lets not forget the gujju stockbroker whose genius most mubaikars rely on while investing their hard earned money. The question you and I should be askind is why are we not given more trains? This huge human capital in mumbai works its arse off everyday! where does all the money go?

At the same time I have to admit that it is a mystery to me as much as to anyone else as to how every other TT in Mumbai turns out to be a Bihari. A certain Mr. Laloo Prasad has to have the answer.

I have been subject to the unwritten code of my housing society as well. Just shows we havent learnt anything that history texbooks intended to teach us. Mine is the only malu family in a sindhi society and they want to us to resell only to a sindhi. Well, my simple answer was ‘ask the sindhi to give me a better price! Only then I can make sense of my decision to sell it to a Sindhi.’

Not that I approve of the name keeping, but I also know Maharastrian have their own ’sweet little’ pet names for gujjus too. Why! even Malu’s and Sindhi’ have these. So its a two way thing. And I do know of thick friends belonging to either states used these terms for each other in a very endearing fashion. I really believe it is something that doesnt deserve too much of attention..

Wow, this anjali girl is another raj, only (presumably) without access to the political muscle he wields. Her not-so-eloquent cousins become raj’s foot soldiers.

  Neemitha wrote @

Oh you are grossly underestimating Raj by saying that!!

  anjali wrote @

Hello Tharuthalai, I stress upon the fact just for you that I as much against Raj as all of you are. And not-so-eloquent soldiers who become Raj’s foot soldiers are not MY COUSINS, mind you. I had just few questions which all marathis are facing here in Mumbai . There is bias against Marathis, its undeniable.
I recently questioned somebody, that if one nonmarathi happens to enter an organisation then he brings in all his clan as his first preference, why is it? He answred Marathis can also do that.
If everybody follows this practice then is this not regionalism?

There was revolt against Biharis in Assam, that was not a matter of discussion. Still in south Hindi has no place, even English has limited speakers, if we go there then dumbshellars are only means of communication. This also is not a subject of discussion. But if Mumbaikars shout for their rights then there is a big hue and cry, then people talk about Unity in Diversity. This is happening right from the Girni Strike in 1982.

Well, with all this brainstorming I’ve come to the conclusion that instead if Raj here talking about Marathis, there in north Lalu talking about Biharis and far down in south Jayalalithaa stops her own rubbish and concentrate on bringing about much more development and providing facilities EQUALLY without any discriminations then these all questions of regionalism will not arise.
I think Raj should concentrate more on restricting Stray dogs in Mumbai which cause so much of nuisance.

But this will not happen. I know , I am just thinking about Utopia. If these goody goody things happen then how will polititcians fill their pockets and if politicians are not rich then how will the large crowd inturn follow them. Its just money, you know.

Infact now I think that the division of states on the basis of language itself was a wrong decision.
What a plight of India, every state wants to be independent. Just recently I got acquainted with some girls from Mizoram and Nagaland. They were talking of having their states separated from India just because they do not look like all other Indians. Well, I feel they want to go to China or Japan.
Some of the South Indians who are my friends also told me that they from South are different because they are Dravidians and others in north are Aryans. During Independance they wanted South to be a separate nation.
In Kashmir and Ladakh people feel that they are crushed between India and Pakistan. Indian does not provide them with much facilities, so even they want a separate nation.
Now what remains in India is Bengal. Here also we look upon them in doubt, whether they are Bengalis or Bangladeshis.
United we Stand, Divided we FALL
I want to change it…….

United we Destroy Others,
Divided we Destroy Ourselves.

The fact all are ignoring is that we are ultimately destroying are mother India.

Anyways, this was a nice discussion and I got a very nice topic of group discussion and for essay type questions for my UPSC exams.

Pls comment on this.

Anjali, I still stand by my observation. Our society is imperfect in a lot of ways, and you choose to see it with regional blinkers. You are either too decent/too eloquent/without the necessary means to carry a fight against these perceived injustices against marathis. A lot of your friends would have the same peeves. When you remove the decency/eloquence out of the equation, you get someone like Raj.

But if Mumbaikars shout for their rights then there is a big hue and cry, then people talk about Unity in Diversity.

Lets not talk about lofty ideals here. Ever heard of free markets? I have the money, I buy a business in Bombay and I employ whom I see fit. Where does the Mumbaikar’s right come in here? My business will perhaps lose its edge on account of the rampant nepotism, but how the heck have I killed the aspirations of marathis?

and far down in south Jayalalithaa stops her own rubbish and concentrate on bringing about much more development and providing facilities EQUALLY without any discriminations then these all questions of regionalism will not arise

Care to elaborate on Jayalalithaa’s rubbish wrt regionalism? In your eagerness to bring in an equivalence, to show the world that Raj isnt the only one who talks of regionalism, you are diluting your own opposition to Raj.
Everything else about the south indians having delusions of belonging to a different aryan race, Hindi not being taught in TN, Bengalis or Bangladeshis is not moot to this discussion.
Good luck to your UPSC exams.

I wish people like you migrate to Mumbai, then we Mumbaikars will never be victims of regionalism.
